The 20th anniversary of the Rev. Sam Callaway as pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church will be celebrated at a special service Sunday Oct. 5. The morning service will begin at 10:45 with a church lunch to follow.  

A special presentation will be a part of the morning service, according to Bob Beasley, director of Education and Music at Lakeview.

Sam Callaway has been a preacher for 32 years, and had his first pastorate at l9 years of age. He holds a BA degree from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene; MDV from Southwestern Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth and MA from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

He preached his first sermon as pastor at Lakeview Oct. 1, 1988.

During his pastorate the church has grown dramatically and a new church building has been built with the old structure used as an education building.

Earlier pastorates include Longworth Baptist Church, Sandy Baptist and Chisholm Baptist Church.

He has three children and two grandchildren.

The revivals, weddings and funerals he has held are described as “numerous.”
