Former Belton cheerleader needing cheers in her fight

For centuries, sporting events have had cheerleaders to root athletes and warriors on the field of battle. 

Former Belton Tiger cheerleader Sarah Tindell gave her all in cheering Tiger athletes on to victory night in and night out for her four years at Belton High School. She had the voice that melted an audience’s hearts. She is also a self-professed “roller-coaster girl,” as she has never met a roller coaster that she did not like.

65th Anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Kennedy

Bettye and Bob Kennedy celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Feb. 5. 

Bettye Lou Hampton and Robert Dean Kennedy married in Kilgore, Texas, in 1949.  They met on a blind date while attending the University of Texas and were engaged within a month.  

4th Annual Red Dirt Mardi Gras to hit Expo

Expo welcomes back three Texas Country veterans

The Expo Center will host their 4th Annual Red Dirt Mardi Gras concert this Friday with Texas Country artists Casey Donahew Band and special guests Roger Creager and Bart Crow. 

Ramona Trevino

Funeral services for Ramona Trevino, 64, of Belton, were held at 9 a.m. Feb. 8 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton with Father James Misko officiating.  Burial followed at the North Belton Cemetery. 

Mrs. Trevino died Feb. 5 in a Temple hospital.

Ernest Strunk

On Feb. 5, Ernest Strunk, 67, lost his battle to cancer and was called by our Lord to join him in heaven. Ernest was born in Evarts, Kent., on May 1, 1946, to Estle Ernest Strunk and Elizabeth Ann Perry Strunk. He was one of six children.

Robbie M. George

Celebration of Life services for Robbie M. George, 88, of Belton, will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Texas.  Rev. Steve Rehrig will officiate.

Robbie passed away Jan. 28 at her home in Belton.
