Belton to play in seven team, District 12-6A in 2014-16

For many years, Belton was Class 4A and Temple was Class 5A. Belton first went to 4A in 1980 and 5A in 2002, with a quick two-year stint in 5A in 1996-97. The two schools were at 5A for 12 years.

All that changed officially Monday morning during the bi-annual reclassification announcement by the Texas University Interscholastic League.

Tigers, Lady Tigers soccer no troubles with Harker Heights, Killeen Ellison

Belton gave up too many corner kick opportunities early against Harker Heights Friday night and eventually the Knights got one to rattle in the back of the goal for a 1-0 lead.

Belton’s defense played lights out not giving the Knights a shot on goal inside the box.

Belton girls finish 5th, boys 6th at Bulldawg Invitational

The Belton Powerlifting Teams took to US 190 to participate in the Bulldawg Invitationals held at Copperas Cove Lee Junior High School.

The Lady Tigers finished fifth overall with 28 points, finishing behind Kyle Lehman (46), Lampasas (40), Rogers (30) and Copperas Cove (29).

Tigers hoops can’t cool Panthers and Grey Wolves shooting, lose pair

The Belton Tigers played host to the Waco Midway Panthers on Tuesday night, hoping to put an end to a frustrating nine-game losing streak.

The Panthers defense halted any thoughts of victory early, as they held Belton to a pair of second quarter points en route to a 51-34 win over the Tigers on Parents Night.

Belton seniors win their final game at Tiger Gym 42-41

Belton seniors Kinsey Williams, Emily Hugo, Katie Carter and student managers Morgan Barnes and Taylor Harris were recognized by Belton head coach Brenda Gomez for their contributions to the Belton Basketball program.

The entire Lady Tigers team gave back to Gomez a 42-41, overtime win over Killeen Shoemaker at Tiger Gym Friday night.

Windsor signs LOI to play at Blinn

The Belton High School baseball team has always sent a great number of its players to colleges and universities after their Tigers’ days.

You may now add Walker Winders to that list, as the Belton shortstop signed his letter of intent to attend Blinn College in Brenham.

Southern's departure not a surprise to area coaches

Every year, hundreds of football coaches from every level migrate to different jobs in hopes of seizing on an opportunity or to face a new challenge. 

Former Belton High School Athletic Director and coach Rodney Southern joined that migration last week with his announcement that he would take the same position at Huntsville High School and although some in the community were shocked by the move, coaching colleagues from around the area weren’t surprised.
