CTAS hosts star parties in May

The Central Texas Astronomical Society (CTAS) will host free public star parties on Saturday, May 4th, from 8:00pm to 10:00pm at Overlook Park outside Belton, the Waco Wetlands outside Waco, and at the Hubbard City Lakes Park in Hubbard. CTAS members will provide telescopes for public viewing. Guests are also welcome to bring their own telescopes.

The colorful planets Saturn and Jupiter will be on display this month. Saturn is located in the east, crossing over from the constellation Libra and into Virgo. Jupiter and it's four bright moons will be visible in the west, in the constellation Taurus, the Bull.

We will look at these and many other celestial objects this month. Please check our web site, http://www., for more information and directions to the site closest to you. You may register online for this event on the CTAS website and receive monthly notices of future events. Participants may want to bring a small flashlight to get from the parking lot to the viewing area nearby. A lawn chair can make viewing more comfortable. If this event is cancelled due to weather, a cancellation notice will be posted on the CTAS website by 6:30pm.
