Jessie J. Jackson

Funeral services for Jessie J. Jackson, 97, of Belton, were held at 10 a.m., Sat., Oct. 12, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Baisden officiating. Burial followed at the McDowell Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson died Sat., Oct. 5, in Houston.


Mrs. Jackson was born Dec. 21, 1915, in Rochelle, the daughter of George Washington Adams and Mary Leona (Shafer) Adams. She married Oren “O.C.” Jackson, Oct. 6, 1934, in Rochelle.  They made their home in Houston for more than 30 years and were members of Lindale Church of Christ.  In 1972, they moved to Belton.  She was a member of Belton Church of Christ.  She was a homemaker and an award-winning artist. 
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Georgie May Adams, and her great-grand daughter, Morgan Derryberry.
Survivors include two sons Joe Jackson of Houston and James Jackson of Belton; one daughter Mary Kemp of Chappel Hill, North Carolina; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Belton Church of Christ.
