Bell County continues to be blessed with businesses and organizations in our area. These organizations and businesses continue to prove their desire to make Bell County a great place to live. The response to underwriting for the annual Taste of the Holidays guarantees the Altrusa projects will help meet the needs of the Temple-Belton area.

All of the proceeds from the 23rd annual Taste of the Holidays will be used for Altrusa’s community projects.

The supportive environment gives Altusans the opportunity to “make a difference” in many lives.

Some of the service projects for 2009-2010 include: Temple Community Free Clinic, Project Apple Tree, Families in Crisis, Helping Hands Ministry, Children’s Advocacy Center, Jr. Master Gardeners, Central Texas Art Competition, Ronald McDonald House, The Thursday Club, Temple Literacy Council, Partners in Education, Camp Dreamcatcher, and Caring Ball.

Taste of the Holidays will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center.

Sherri Davis, owner of Sherri’s The RoseBud, will present a style show of the newest fashion trends.

Jazz Works will perform a variety of music and Jim Kerby will provide piano accompaniment during the style show.

Tables are still available and seating is limited. Reservations will continue to be accepted until the event is sold out.

No reservations will be available at the door. The price is $25 per person or $192 for a reserved table of eight. The reservation line is 534-1129.

Valuable door prizes are a highlight of the event. Raffle tickets are available from Altrusans and will also be available at the door.

They cost $5 each or five for $20 and winners do not have to be present. All funds raised by the raffle are dedicated to college scholarships for local students.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution may send a check to the Altrusa Club of Temple Texas Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 1251, Temple, TX 76503-1251.

The Foundation is a non-profit corporation, and all contributions are tax deductible.

Underwriting committee members are Martha Chandler, Chair, Tamara Clothier, Leanne Chappell, and Barbara Sorge.
