Lena Armstrong Public Library receives grant

By David Tuma

The Lena Armstrong Public Library received a $10,000 grant to purchase e-readers, iPads and an e-book remote.
The grant was applied for in February and recently approved with the equipment to be installed sometime later this year.
The impact grants for library innovation and improvement is provided by the state.

The grant won by the library is part of the focus for improvements in electronic information technology.
The goal of the grant is to provide the library with funds to enhance library patrons’ access to electronic information.
“Kim Kroll, the Library Director, was instrumental in getting this grant. It is the second library grant we have received recently. You will be able to check out books from your home using the remote e-book. The iPads will be a big addition to the services offered. This a great opportunity the state is offering to local libraries,” said Paul Romer, the City of Belton Public Information Officer.
