Horny Toad Harley Davidson hosts Chrome & Carols

This year, The United Way of Central Texas conducted its third annual Chrome & Carols Festival of Trees last Thursday evening at Horny Toad Harley Davidson in Temple.

Christmas trees were highly decorated in a variety of color schemes and the themed gifts underneath each tree ranged from hunting goods to quilting and home goods. One hundred percent of the money raised at the annual Christmas tree fundraiser went directly to helping local Central Texans in need through United Way agencies.
There were 10 Christmas trees, including decorations and presents, raffled off to be taken home immediately. In other words, it was a turn-key Christmas for lucky winners. There were also approximately a dozen wreaths for auction as well as three live auction items, a Harley Davison tree and gifts, a Starfire design turquoise pendant set in 14k gold with a 14k gold collar, and a Weatherby .270 rifle for that lucky marksman.
Each tree was sponsored by local companies and had a different Christmas Carol theme, which reflected the business sponsoring it. Tickets were sold to guests the night of the event and then dropped in the raffle buckets of the trees. Dinner was served and a cash bar kept the hundreds in attendance in good spirits.  Live music was provided by the Funk Factory. It was a night of dinner, friends, family, coworkers, and a little friendly competition as each bidder hoped to hear their name called out as a winner of each of the trees and auction items.
The United Way of Central Texas is a local organization that has been providing services in the Temple/Belton area for over 60 years. They fund 27 local agencies that provide health & human services ranging from pre-natal care to providing for our senior citizens.
These agencies provide a safety net for our community and raised over $60,000 last year. In addition United Way is also very active in forming partnerships and collaboration to bring the entire community together to find lasting solutions that change people’s lives.
