The annual business meeting of the McCann Cemetery Association will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 17. The business meeting will be in Rogers in the Multipurpose Building of the Rogers Independent School District on FM 437, south of the business district, according to Joyce Rae McCrary of Waco, association chairman. Located in proverbial middle of the pasture, the cemetery has a new green sign at the entrance gate at 7941 FM437. FM 437 is the road that goes south at the traffic light by the city hall in downtown Rogers. A “cemetery cleaning” will begin about 9 a.m. Those attending are reminded to take necessary tools for the job, drinking water, snacks/lunch and watch out for snakes. Contributions toward the upkeep of the cemetery, which was well established when James Henry Hillyard from Mississippi, via Belton, bought the property in 1852-53, are needed. Mail contributions to Joyce McCrary, Association Treasurer, 1101 N. 65th St., Waco TX 76710. Make checks to Joyce McCrary. The cemetery cleaning and business meeting are open to all interested persons. |
