UMHB sports camps

The UMHB football program will host a series of elite camps for serious football athletes this summer. The camps will be held at a variety of locations across the state and will be run by Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg with assistance from UMHB assistant coaches and members of the Oklahoma State University football coaching staff. The Cru Elite Football Camp is an intense training camp designed for serious football athletes.

The camp is open to any athlete entering the 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2013. Campers may register for the camp on location the day of the camp. Each camper should bring shorts, cleats and a medical waiver form. The camp is May 31 in Belton. The cost of the camp session is $35 per camper. UMHB softball will host two summer softball camps for children ages 8-18 this summer. UMHB head softball coach Larry Hennig will conduct the camp with assistance from Cru assistant coach Julie Norris. A staff of current collegiate players and coaches will assist Coach Hennig and Coach Norris during the camp. The Cru Softball Camp will offer two separate sessions, with both of them focusing on all-around softball skills. The camp will teach hitting and bunting fundamentals, base running and sliding and defensive techniques and skills. There will be a youth session for kids aged 8-14 from June 10-12 from 9 a.m. to Noon and a one-day, high school session for more advanced players on June 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The cost of each camp session is $70 per student and the deadline for registration is June 8. All of the camp sessions will be held at Dee Dillon Field on the UMHB campus. The UMHB football team will host a summer skills camp for students in grades 7-10 and two separate sessions for children ages 5-10 this summer. Each camp will be a one-day camp and will be led by UMHB assistant coach Cody Fredenburg and a staff of current Cru players and coaches. There will be a camp for students entering grades 7-12 on June 16. That camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. The cost of that camp is $40 payable by cash or money order only. The camp for children ages 5-10 will be held on June 7 or June 15. Each of those camp sessions runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon with registration opening at 8:00 a.m. each day. The cost of each of the younger child camp sessions is $25 per camper, payable by money order or cash only. All of the camp sessions will be held at the UMHB football practice fields at the Cru Sports Plex. UMHB will host a summer boy's basketball camp for children entering third grade and up this summer. UMHB head men's basketball coach Ken DeWeese and UMHB assistant coach Zane Johnston will conduct the camp. A staff of area high school coaches and current UMHB collegiate players will assist Coach DeWeese. Ken DeWeese has compiled a 691-230 won-lost record as a collegiate head coach and has guided the Cru to the postseason in 14 of his 15 seasons at UMHB. Coach Zane Johnston just completed his first season as assistant coach at UMHB and was also a four-year letterman and graduate assistant coach for the Cru.The Cru Boy's Basketball Camp will emphasize fundamental offensive skills like shooting, passing, dribbling, individual offensive moves and reading defenses.
