Louis A. Hill

Funeral services for Louis Alvin Hill, 91, of Salado were held Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Salado Church of Christ with pastors, James Haney and Joe Keys officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Mr. Hill died Friday evening at his home in Salado.

Louis was born on December 16, 1920 to Henry J. and Myrtle (Hogan) Hill in Bell County. Mr. Hill graduated from Belton High School in 1939 and Temple Junior College in 1941. He married Fannie Vann on December 24, 1946. Mr. Hill was a nursing assistant at the VA for 20 years retiring in 1981. He worked with the Bell County 4-H and FFA youth from 1963 to 1998. Mr. Hill helped develop the Salado Water Department and served on the board. He also served on the Salado School Board for many years. Louis worked with the Salado Arts Fair for numerous years. He helped build the current Salado Church of Christ. He was instrumental in the Salado EJT to help prevent Killeen and Belton from taking over Salado. Mr. Hill was a rancher all his life.

Mr. Hill is preceded in death by three brothers, G.L., Bill and Ray.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Fannie Hill; two sons, Henry Lee Hill of Austin, Marvin Alvin Hill of Salado; one daughter, Lynda Lou Harris of Canyon; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren

The family has entrusted Heartfield Funeral Home with arrangements.
