Museum sets annual Garage Sale date

The annual Big Bell County Garage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 10 at the Bell County Expo Center. A few booth spaces are now available to vendors and area non-profits.

Visitors will be able to find everything from collectibles to electronic equipment, fabulous antiques, vintage jewelry and textiles, furniture, house wares, and just great all-American junk.

"The Garage Sale is really a giant, wonderful flea market, and has been characterized as one of the great people-watching events of the year," Museum Director Stephanie Turnham said. "It is also a great opportunity to get out with friends and family members, do something fun, and find some real deals. There's plenty of parking, food will be available, and children under twelve get in free.

"Admission is only $3.00 for adults," Turnham added, "so it's a great bargain that offers the opportunity to discover hidden treasures offered by the many vendors. Plus, every family member can find something here that they just cannot live without. Also, children under 12 get in free.

"Proceeds from the Garage Sale help the museum fund exhibitions, educational programs, and also help to preserve the collection for the residents and visitors of the Bell County region.

The garage sale also needs volunteers, Turnham said. "We need people to help us for a couple of hours on Saturday selling tickets and troubleshooting, or for setting up on Friday. It's really lots of fun because you get to talk to so many interesting people, and you get to shop as much as you want to."

If you would like to volunteer for the museum or would simply like more information, please call (254) 933-5243.
