Tigers win Temple powerlifting meet

Tiger-powerlifting-teamThe Tiger powerlifting team won the Temple meet this past Saturday. Belton High school's strongmen --- and women --- muscled everyone out of their way on the way to the medal stand at last Saturday's Temple Powerlifting Meet.

The Tigers grabbed first place and the Lady Tigers earned a second place finish. The boys' team edged the Wildcats by two points, 49-47 and the Gatesville girls' team slipped by the Lady Tigers 54-52 (two points).

The boys from Midway, Waco and Copperas Cove finished way behind --- 29, 21 and 16 points!

For the second straight meet, Belton's Stephen St. John was named the Outstanding Lifter for the 114-181 lb weight classes.

Coach Lance Herring's other lifters and their individual places were:

132 lbs class – 1) Pete Contreras, 3) Reamon Martinez

148 lbs --- 1) Robert Martinez, 2) Xavier Moffit, 3) Tyson Eno

165 lbs --- 1) Stephen St. John, 5) Stephen Snyder, 8) Trent Foster

181 lbs --- 2) Devin Patterson, 4) Ryan Vincent, 8) Ryan Johnson

198 lbs --- 2) Donovan Williams

220 lbs --- 5) Quinton Manor

242 lbs --- 2) Koby Williams, 3) Brandon Sullivan, 4) Rodarius Birks, 5) Brandon McGibney

Coach Paul Williams' ladies were in a field of seven that included Midway, Copperas Cove, Waco, Salado and Temple. Williams commented that most of his girls "did exceptionally well"!
