Lady Tigers send 15

Fifteen Belton High School Lady Tiger powerlifters are competing at Regionals today.
"The group qualified for the trip by being in the top 10 of their individual weight class in tournaments in this region," explained their coach, Paul Williams.
The top three women's powerlifting teams in this region are BELTON, A&M Consolidated and Kyle Lehman.
"Going into it, this will be anyone's meet at this point," Williams commented. "I feel comfortable with the girls we have qualified and I think that they all will do a good job."
The regional qualifiers are; Yeya Jaimes, Brooke Burdine, Mari Cortez, Billi Farr, Mia Garcia, Jenny Newberry, Kyler Watkins, Karina Frias, Autumn Anson, Abbey Dolan, Olivia Warehime, Skylar King, Haley LeBlanc, Vanessa Jimenez and Lauren Harper.
The team was off from competition last week, preparing for the regional.
The lady lifters left Belton Wednesday morning and traveled to Kyle, TX, where Lehman will host the meet. After weighing in and checking for eligibility, etc., they met with the judges and got a little rest. This morning (Thursday), they got their wrappings, focused and went to work to win the championship.
"Knock on wood, we''ll come home with that first place trophy," Williams stated.
Saturday the Tiger lifters will compete in the men's Regional Powerlifting Meet in Dripping Springs.
Coach Lance Herring took six lifters to Fairfield last week to up their total weight --- Tyson Eno was 3rd in the 132 wt class; Robert Martinez finished 3rd in the 148's; Ryan Stinson took 2nd in the 220's; and Koby Williams was 4th in the 275's.
These Tigers qualified for regionals: Pete Contreras, Stephen St. John, Devin Patterson, Eno, Martinez and Stinson.
Lifting competition begins at 9am Saturday.
