Belton PD investigating possible homicide

The Belton Police Department is currently investigating the death of Stephen Michael Wright, 20, of Belton as homicide.
On Sunday, at approximately 3:20 p.m., BPD officers were responded to a report of a deceased person in the 400 block of W. 7th Ave.
The body of Wright was found on the front porch of his residence with a single gunshot wound to the body.
BPD could not release information about suspects or the location of the gunshot wound because it is an active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division of the BPD.
Bell County Justice of the Peace Don Engleking pronounced Wright dead and ordered an autopsy at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
