UMHB Softball

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team used different methods in the two games, but the results were the same as the Cru swept a doubleheader from Concordia Texas for the second straight day on Tuesday. UMHB took game one 11-2 before winning the second game 3-0 to capture all four games of the weekend series.

UMHB grabbed the lead with a four-run second inning in the first game and never looked back on the way to an 11-2 victory. Leanne Hinojosa's three-run double was the biggest hit in the second for the Cru. Ariel Kemmerer tossed a complete-game, three-hitter to improve to 2-1. She did not allow an earned run.

Bollier, White and Kaysie Creech had two hits apiece to lead a 13-hit Cru offensive attack.

UMHB scored three late runs to break up a pitcher's duel in a 3-0 game two win. Caitlin Wells singled home a fifth-inning run for the Cru and Camryn Bintz doubled home two more in the sixth to give UMHB a 3-0 lead. That was more than enough offense for Cru hurler Rebekah Ragsdale. Ragsdale scattered four hits and struck out three to move to 4-3 on the year. White had two of UMHB's nine hits in the victory.

The Cru is now 8-7 overall and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference West Division play on the season. UMHB will return to action with a four-game series at Howard Payne this weekend in Brownwood. Concordia falls to 6-8 overall and 0-4 in the ASC West on the year with the two losses.
