Anniversaries

Mr. & Mrs. Raby Alford

Mr-Mrs-Raby-AlfordMr. and Mrs. Raby Alford of Gatesville, formerly of Belton, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family in Gatesville March 15. Raby Alford and the former Lenola Baize were married March 15,1947 at the 10th & Saunders Church of Christ in Gatesville with Minister John Overby officiating.

Both Raby and Lanola were born near Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School. After their marriage they moved to the Panama Canal Zone where he was employed as an aircraft mechanic at Albrook Field. Returning to Texas in 1948, Raby became executive director of the Burnet County ASCS office before transferring to the Bell County ASCS office in Belton where he served for 27 years. Lanola was secretary for the Bell County Tax Office for 12 years, retiring in 1977. On Raby's retirement they returned to their ranch home west of Gatesville.

They have two daughters. Sherry Havens and husband Richard, live in Hewitt and Marsha and husband, W.H. "Dub" Hicks live near Gatesville.

Their grandchildren are Maj. Eric Reid, Amy Perez and Alan Havens.

They also have four great-grand children, Christian Howell, Caden Perez, Meredith Reid and R.J. Reid.
