Tigers golf team finishes fifth

Only one of the BHS men's golf teams coached by Jimmy Hellums survived the weather to finish the regular season schedule.

Tiger One traveled to Austin's Jimmy Clay Golf Course to compete in the 18-team Joe Ballander Memorial. Needless to say, the competition was very tough and talented but Belton finished in fifth place with a 313-153 total for the 27 hole event.

Cedar Park took the championship, followed by Vista Ridge, Lake Travis, Cedar Ridge and Belton. The remainder of the field included, in order, Westwood, Stony Point, Anderson, Leander, Vandergrift, Medina Valley, Round Rock, Bastrop, Connally, Pflugerville, Dripping Springs and Cedar Creek

Andrew Paysee led Tiger One scoring individually with a 78-37-115. Teammates' cards showed Preston Parker, 79-38-117; Zach Plunk, 80-37-117; Nick Ratliff, 78-41-119; and Kyle Revis, 78-44-122.

It was necessary for the Tiger Two and Tiger Three teams to cancel out of their final season matches at the Stony Point Spring Invitational at Tera Vista in Round Rock due to wet weather conditions that day.

Belton teed off in the District 12-5A tournament Monday and Tuesday at Twin Rivers Golf Course in Waco but due to an early deadline this week, those results will not be available until next week's edition.
