BHS students recognized at scholars ceremony

BHS sophomore Jacob Fitzwater receives his recognition as a Superintendent Scholar from BISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon.The annual Superintendent Scholars ceremony was held on April 30 in the Lord Conference Center at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The program is held to honor sophomore students who ranked in the top 15 percent for their scores on the PSAT exam.
Kathy Cook, BHS Principal, welcomed the students, followed by information on the PSAT/NMSQT test from Dr. Jan Fall, Coordinator of Advanced Academic Studies.
Dr. Susan Kincannon, Superintendent, challenged the students to "Live Wholeheartedly" and do what they love to do. Assistant Superintendent Ed Braeuer assisted Dr. Kincannon and Mrs. Cook with presentation of the awards, followed by comments from Randy Pittenger, President, Belton ISD Board of Trustees.
Students recognized were: Macy Banfield, Dustin Chen, Shelby Clemons, Erin Cowan, Jacob Daugherty, Ariel Davis, John Edwards, August Farek, Jacob Fitzwater, Brody Grogan, Bridgette Grogan, Mary Hinze, John Jennings, Shannon Knight, Sarah Lairmore, Eindra Lwin, Montana Minnis, Megan Nitcher, Dakota Popelka, Maxwell Rector, Jarred Scaff, Emily Schiller, Rebecca Stone, and Nicholas Weers.
Dedication for New Tech @Waskow set for May 9
Dedication of the newly renovated Belton New Tech High School @ Waskow, 320 N. Blair St. will be held on May 9 at 4:30 p.m.
Belton New Tech High School @ Waskow opened in the fall of 2011 with students attending classes in the north wing of the Administration Building while the former Waskow High School Building was being renovated. Students moved into the "new" facility immediately after Spring Break.
