Christ the King to host Spring Fest

Mark your calendars for May 5-6 to attend the Christ The King Spring Festival on the grounds of Christ The King Catholic Church on Main Street in Belton.

On Saturday, a "WingFest before Springfest" will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with an entrance fee of $5 and wings sold at only $3 for seven pieces. The Leon River Band will be providing live entertainment for everyone young and old to enjoy.

The next day will be the annual "Ole Time Country Festival" from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with many fun-filled activities such as the Crowning of Our Queen, bouncy castles, dunking booths, a petting zoo, donated art for sale, washer tournaments, a Country Store, a plant booth, tons of food tasting booths, a raffle, kids games, a silent auction, and a main course meal of Mecixan food. Raffle tickets will be on sale until 3 p.m. with the top prizes being a 55-inch TV, $1,000 HEB gift card, iPod, shotgun, and $1,000 Visa gift card.

There will be up to 100 prizes being auctioned off this year including but not limited to a hog hunting trip, spa days, and signed sports memorabilia from Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and David Ash.

The new art show will be featuring various pieces of original artwork from local artists such as Steve Neves, Karen Kersey, Pamela Divsha , Eli Lopez, Joe Kertesz and many more. All of the proceeds will go directly to the church and its ministries. Some of the art work being showcased include photography, sculptures, watercolor, oil, and charcoal.

"This years annual Spring Festival at Christ The King in Belton is a real community event for everyone," said Bernadette Presta, a Committee Chair member. "Our church has truly come together to make this an event the community can be proud of. We look forward to seeing friends, old and new welcoming all in Christ."
