Area students awarded medical scholarships

Local-author-honoredJohn “Jack” W. Oliver Jr. (Col.USAF Retired) was honored by the McWha Book Store on Monday.John "Jack" W. Oliver Jr. (Col. USAF Retried) was honored at a gathering on Monday, at the McWha Book Store.

Col. Oliver has written an autobiography called Full Circle. The book is about the life of John Oliver, a country boy from Belton who played a huge role in the early successes of the US space and nuclear deterrent programs. He spent 30 years in the Army Air Corps/USAF and among his many accomplishments he flew 53 missions as a WWII Bombardier-Navigator.

Also in attendance at the presentation were Miriam Oliver, John's wife, several Judges, Commissioners, officials and businessmen and women from downtown Belton.

The presentation was organized and prepared by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Rory Oliver.

The book is available for purchase at the McWha Book Store.

The McWha Book Store is a used, half-price bookstore. They have books in every genre and offer in-store credit for gently used books. They also have new books from many local authors for sale at the store.
