Flake Leroy Fisher

Dr. Flake Leroy Fisher, 88, of Belton died May 11 in Belton. Services were at 11 a.m. May 12 at Dossman Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll Davis and the Rev.Mamie Fisher-Ingram officiating.
Dr. Fisher was born Aug. 7, 1923 in Abbot, NM to Flake and Marie Smith Fisher. He married Marjorie Ham July 22, 1945 in Denton.
He served in the Army Air Corps and graduated from New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts. In 1947 he earned masters and doctorate degrees in agronomy from Agricultural and Mechanical College of Temple in College Station. After serving on the faculty of Texas A&M, he later returned to the A&M System, retiree and later retired from Chemical Enterprises in Houston. The family moved to Temple in 1998 and were members of the First Baptist Church in Belton. After the death of his first wife, he married Ethel Marie Black of Knoxville, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Kenneth Lee Fisher of Coralville Iowa, two daughters, Kay Fisher Goldsmith of Belton and Kerry Ann Stallings Butler of Fort Worth; two stepsons,Doyle Black and Keith Black; a step-daughter, Teresa Black Dicus; two sisters, Ruby Jane Blackman of Harrison, Ark., and Nitha Ernestine Fisher Horn of Winnemucca, NM, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
