Marine Outlet stresses safety

Good fun on a boat starts with good safety — that's the message of RIck Smith, owner of Marine Outlet of Temple, one of the premier boating resources in Central Texas.
Smith said he wants everyone in the boating community and the community at large about the importance of proper boat safety this summer, so he and his company are helping to get the word out about National Safe Boating Week, which starts this Saturday, May 19 and continues until May 25.
Marine Outlet is a family-owned business which has operated in the Central Texas area since 1969. In addition to providing a wide variety of marine products with personalized services to meet the individual need of their customers, Marine Outlet also sponsors and organizes some of Central Texas's most well known summer events.
Marine Outlet's summer fun activities begin this Saturday with the 3rd Annual Fishing for Arthritis Tournament, this Saturday on Lake Belton. Headquartered at Cedar Ridge Park, the entry fee is $120 per two-person team.
The first place winner receives $1,000 with one place paid for every 10 teams. Registrations forms are available at Tight Lines Premium Fishing Tackle of Killeen and Marine Outlet of Temple or pre-register online. You may also stop by tournament headquarters the morning of May 19 at 5 a.m. to register for an additional $20 per team. Those interested can contact Lisle Meeker at 254-289-9550 for more information.
Later this year, the 13th Annual TuffMan Bass Fishing Tournament Trail on area lakes will start in September and go through December with a championship to be held in January.
