BHS Choir earns awards

Members of the Belton High School choir competed in the State final round of UIL Solo & Ensemble contest on Saturday, May 26 in Austin. Choir members participated in 37 events. Superior (1) scores were awarded to 29 BHS singers, and another eight singers were scored Excellent (2). Every BHS singer brought home a medal.
Soloists earning Superior scores included: Christina Arellano, Clint Barrineau, Roxanne Bodkin, Jacob Burlingame, Sean Clark, Chaz Corder, John Goodridge, Brooke Haugeberg, Grace Hutchinson, Lynette Puckett and Riley Wesson. Soloists earning Excellent scores included: Alexis Alejandro, Alisa Cristobal, Anna Greenberg, Morgan Hollingsworth, Sarah Jennings, Sarah McLaurin, Melissa Montgomery and Hannah Sykes.
Both ensembles earned superior scores including "Il Est Bel et Bon" with Clint Barrineau, Sean Clark, Alisa Cristobal, Chaz Corder, Brooke Haugeberg, Peter Holmen, Sarah Jennings and Lynette Puckett. The "Fire, Fire" ensemble included: Alexis Alejandro, Christina Arellano, Jacob Burlingame, Samantha Eagen, Christina Elser, John Goodridge, Joey Kincaid, Melissa Montgomery, Hannah Sykes and Riley Wesson.
Many of these students study with private voice teachers. BHS choir teachers are Craig Pitrucha and Justine Halamicek.
Summer Feeding Program
The Belton Independent School District will be providing free meals to children during the summer. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child under age 18 may come to eat. Adults may eat for $2 for breakfast and $3 for lunch. This program is offered through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer.
Meals will be offered as follows June 4-17: Southwest Elementary and Tarver Elementary – Breakfast 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.; and Lunch 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Miller Heights Elementary – Lunch 1:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will also be offered at Belton Christian Youth Center from 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for lunch. Belton High School will offer breakfast only during Summer School, June 6-29, from 7:30 – 8 a.m.
