ECS continues to grow
Friday, 15 June 2012 by David Tuma
ECS Environmental Solutions is a Belton run company that is a national leader in designing and building air pollution control systems. The company traces its origins to TexGlass, a company started in 1999 by Jeff and Michael Jones along with their sister Alisa Jones Leinart.
All three are siblings of business leader Steve Jones
"We learned a great deal from our father," Jeff said.
That knowledge has paid off with the company growing an average of 20 percent each year since its inception.
"Being able to lean on our father for advice over the years has been instrumental to our success," Alisa said.
ECS not only grew, but the company has evolved over the past 10 years.
What began as a simple distribution business is now a national leader in air pollution technology and equipment. Today, ECS's primary focus is the design and production of filtration systems for sewage treatment plants that eliminate odor.
ECS not only designs but also manufactures most of the major components that go into the system.
"This gives us a high level of control in regards to quality and scheduling, which ultimately benefits our clients," Jeff said.
ECS is the only air pollution company in the nation with this extensive capability.
ECS air pollution systems include units that utilize activated carbon, chemical and multiple means of biology to remove contaminates from the air.
ECS has several unique products including a patented high efficiency carbon system and special biological media that utilizes a proprietary nutrient coating system.
In October, ECS entered into a joint venture with Calgon Carbon, taking responsibility for servicing their equipment and system needs.
The company, run by the Jones/Leinart family is a major employer in Belton with 45 full-time employees at the manufacturing plant in Belton's industrial park.
"The biggest asset we have is our employees," Jeff said. "We wanted to create an environment where people wanted to come to work, and be part of a team."
ECS has provided health care, retirement and profit sharing for their team since 2003 when there were only eight full-time employees.
"We feel that another key to our success has been limiting turn-over," Jeff said.
