Market Days adds Friday night car show

Market-DaysPatrons share some laughs and drinks at The Gin, located in Downtown Belton. The Gin offers free music entertainment every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.Downtown Belton Merchants Association has added a pre-Market Day event to the third weekend of every month.

Also on Saturday June 16, there will be a special Health Fair in front of the Historic Bell County Courtouse. Beginning Friday, June 15 there will be a Rod Hop Cruz from 7 p.m. to midnight.

This will give a five hour time lapse before vendors arrive for the Third Saturday of the Month Market Days.

Rod Hop Run will be 7-9 p.m. to park and show cars. Food vendors will be set up and the Rod Hop Cruz will follow the general DBMA family-oriented theme of Market Days.

The Health Fair features special services of Scott and White Hospital, including a blood drive.

Also a chiropractor display is planned.

Market Days officially runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Third Saturday of Every Month.

Central Ave. is closed during those hours from Main St. to Penelope St. to allow visitors to walk freely among the vendor booths to provide for easier shopping access.

With gasoline prices dropping, Erma Elser, DBMA president, said "we expect more vendors from greater distances this month, also visitors from a wider area.

"However, we are highly appreciative of the loyal 45 or more nucleus of regular vendors."

Booth spaces are $25. For registration and information, contact Sandy Bigham (254) 721-4693.

Other free events in historic downtown Belton include a free concert every Thursday

night in the Back Yard at Schoepf's Barbecue at Central and Muehlhouse and live music at the Gin on Nolan Creek Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
