State-of-the-art bowling center coming to Temple in 2013

bowling-centerThe Emmons brothers, along with Chamber of Commerce Members, Temple Mayor Bill Jones and Temple City Council members break ground on Spare Time Fun Center.Brothers Michael and Curtis Emmons, owners and operators of B.A. Emmons Homes in Killeen, partnered up to bring the city of Temple Spare Time Fun Center, a wholesome and unique family entertainment center.

"We lost Action World, but we gained a major family entertainment center," Temple Mayor William A. Jones said. "This truly means a lot to our community, so we thank the Emmons for this. It gives us the quality that we lack."

Spare Time Fun Center celebrated with an official ground-breaking ceremony last Thursday.

Chamber of Commerce officials, City Council members, and business leaders were present. Spare Time will be opening in early 2013 and will have something fun for all ages. The entertainment center will feature 24 ultra-modern bowling lanes, 65 of the latest state-of-the-art arcade games and a prize/redemption center, a two-story laser tag arena, six party rooms, a large event space for up to 200 guests, several big screen TV's and sound systems, and a full service bar serving American favorite foods with plenty of beverages. They plan on employing more than 85 people to start the Spare Time team.

"We are really focusing on family," Owner Michael Emmons said. "Entertainment is what it's about and there will be something for everybody to do to get the family to really come together."

The Emmons brothers purchased the property in October 2011and have been working and planning on Spare Time, the first of its kind since 2006 and are finally watching their dream come to life.

"This area is so great for this center," said Gill Hollie, Temple Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Spare Time Fun Center will be located on 5435 205 Loop in Temple.
