Breuer back home for summer

Belton-Middle-School-8th-gradersThese Belton Middle School 8th graders are playing summer league basketball. The girls are coached by former BHS Lady Tiger standout Meghan Braeuer, currently a Lon Morris College player. Meghan Breuer, daughter of Ed and Penny Breuer, is home for the summer and visited for an interview between summer workouts.

"I'm doing fine up there (Lon Morris)," she stated. "I was a starter and team captain my first season. I was a combo guard, both point and shooting, wherever I'm needed....I'm interchangeable."

She averaged about 10 points per game and really came alive back of the three-point arc....43-percent! " Threes are what I'm known for," she commented. "It's nice because every time that I'm double-teamed, they leave the post open and I'm able to score. The coaches love it because they weren't used to three-point shooters."

Meghan's teammates and coaches are great, she says.

"My teammates are all good....we have a very talented group and coach Brenita Williams and the other coaches are unbelievable. All of their time goes toward the team. Coach Williams Played D I ball at SouthEastern Louisiana and overseas before returning to her alma mater here to coach. She's pretty much the whole package!"

Meghan is fitting right in at her new school --- she was selected for Phi Beta Kappa honor society and at the basketball team banquet, she received the "Big Shot" award. She's the one they turn to when the crucial points are needed.

Summer is not a time of rest for Meghan. She has a summer workout routine that keeps her mighty busy.

"I leave daily about 8-9 in the morning for an at least three-hour workout." she revealed. "I lift weights, do conditioning and a bunch of gym work, shooting drills, run sprints and bike or swim. I also play a lot of basketball with the guys to get some live action."

Meghan Breuer will return to Jacksonville for her sophomore season in August. She may leave a little earlier, July, if she is called on to help with basketball camp. Until then, this Belton girl is home!
