Tigers shine Victory Bowl

The last few days have been a time of "Last Hurrahs" for a number of talented Belton athletes --- their final time to compete on the high school level.

It began last Saturday with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes annual Victory Bowl at Baylor's Floyd Casey Stadium.

A trio of former Tigers contributed to the Red team's 28-26 victory over the Blue before a crowd of over 2,000 fans. The event raised over$85,000.

In the opening quarter, the Red got on the scoreboard first, with guard Michael Gall helping lead interference on a 16-play, 84 yard touchdown drive.

Belton running back Donavan Williams carried the ball seven times for 26 yards. Most came in the third period.

It was on the final play of that third quarter that Levi Jordan hauled in a 34-yard pass on a trick play to put up what turned out to be the decisive score. Jordan also was the holder for four extra point kicks.

Belton-area fans will be able to view the game Saturday, June 16, at noon on KWTX News 10 television.

Tiger baseball sent five players to the Central Texas Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Waco ISD's Veterans Field Monday. Austin Bishoff, Max Hogan and Blayten Magana were named to the senior Blue team, while Hunter Houston and Shane Ward played for the senior White team.

Bishoff and Hogan put the Blue team ahead for good in the sixth inning of the 6-4 win over the White.

Bishoff slammed a two-run blast to center and Hogan singled him home later in the inning. The Tiger pair accounted for three of their team's six points.

On the White side of the diamond, Belton's Hunter Houston struck out one and allowed one hit for two runs in his two innings on the mound.

All of the former Tigers represented Belton well in the game.
