Obituaries

Won Young Park

Funeral services for Won Young Park, 82, of Belton were at 10 a.m. June 18 at Dossman Funeral Home with Minister Warren King officiating. Burial was in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Sgt. Maj. Won Young Park was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Tai Kyun Park and Mal Soon (Kim) Park. He grew up in Hawaii and was drafted into the army in 1951. His 20 years army service included the Korean Conflict when he was held a POW for 13 months. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. His final tour was the Vietnam War. March 24, 1956 he married Mina Grunleitner. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying family, friends and the congregation of the Leon Valley Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mina Park; one son, Randal Park of Cedar Park, two daughters, Lydia Park of Austin and Isolde Brazil of Pflugerville; one brother, Francis Park of Hawaii, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
