Waldburger close match to Ebersole
Sunday, 08 July 2012 by Keith Bahlmann
A 2006 Belton High School alum continues to battle it out in Mixed Martial Arts.
TJ Waldburger, who still trains at the Grapplers' Lair on Old Waco Road, had a bad night last week in an Ultimate Fighting Championship bout in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Despite a solid opening round and countless promising submission attempts which he is noted for, Waldburger lost a unanimous decision to MMA veteran Brian Ebersole. The 31-year old hasn't been beaten in nearly four years.
All three judges scored the welterweight fight 29-28 in favor of Ebersole, who improvd to 4-0 in the UFC after his 50th professional victory.
With the loss, Waldburger dropped to 15-7 as a professional.
TJ returned home last weekend to see his wife, Shayla, and their son, Colt.
The sturdy fighter is the son of Lee and Carla Wohlfert of Belton.
