Dale Summers, 96, of Temple died June 28 in a Temple nursing home. Memorial services will be held in Ro k Island, Ill National Cemetery in Illinois at a later date. Mr. Summers was born July 28, 1915 in Chester, Ark. veteran of World War he served in the Army Air Force. He married Ida Emery in Peoria, Ill. in 1939. He retired from Rock Island Arsenal after 40 years service. He was instrumental as president of IAM Local 81 Union when President Kennedy signed the excutive order regarding the exclusive recognition of unions in the early 1960s. He was a member of the Moline Congregational Church in Moline, Ill. before moving to Central Texas in 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons, Stephen Summers and Jeffrey Summers. He is survived by two sons, David Summers and wife Sandy of Temple and Ronald Summers and wife Joyce of Anderson, Cal if. eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dossman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
