Belton baseball host district tourney

The Belton TTAB District Tournament is underway this week and young baseball players, their families and friends are packing the diamonds and grandstands.
On Monday, Killeen sent its Belton competition to the Losers bracket.
The Killeen Red Sox outlasted the Belton Red Sox 4-1 and the Killeen Orioles downed the Belton Reds 10-1, behind an outstanding 18 strikeout performance by Orioles pitcher Tyler Torres.
Wednesday evening, the Killeen Red Sox played the Killeen Orioles in the Winners bracket for the title.
The Belton Red Sox faced the Belton Reds in an elimination showdown in the Losers bracket.
The Wednesday games ended too late for the Journal's press deadline and the results of those games will be in next week's Sports Section.
