Obituaries

Essie Marie Trammel

Mrs. Essie Marie Trammel, 83 of Marshall formerly of Belton, died July 1 in Marshall. Funeral serviced were at 1 p.m. July 1 1 at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Belton where her husband, the late Rev. Matthew Trammel, Jr., was pastor for many years. Graveside services and burial follow at Temple Garden of Memories in Temple.

She was born in Marshall Nov. 26, 1928, She graduated from Pemberton High School and was licensed to practice cosmetology from Belanie Hurds Beauty school in Marshall. As a professional beautician she served in Marshall, Mexia, Belton and Temple for over 40 years. She married her husband of 60 years May 12, 1945. Throughout her lifetime of service she held numerous offices and memberships These included First Lady of Bethel A.M.E. Church for 26 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, local president of the Waco/Temple District Missionary Society, historian of the Belton American Legion and recording secretary of the Minister's Wives Association.

She is survived by a sister, Johnnie M. Hudson; eight children, Matthew Trammel III, Harold W. Trammel, Patricia Trammel Rolle, James E. Trammel, Martin L. Trammel, Reginald D. Trammel a nd Joe D. Trammel, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother Irola Gregory and her father, Sylvester Price.
