Obituaries

John Divis

John Divis, 93, of Temple died July 10. Funeral services were at Dossman Funeral Home July 13 with burial in the Seaton Cemetery at Seaton.

Mr. Divis was born Dec. 10. 1918 in Red Ranger the son of Emil and Rosalie Lesikar Divis. He was reared and educated in the Red Ranger area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Jan. 3, 1940 and was discharge Aug. 31,1945. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. His military service included assignments in Australia, New Guinea Dutch New Guinea. He served 52 months in the Pacific Theater and finished his career as a military policeman. He retired with the rating of staff sergeant. His career included a year as a farmer, 18 months with Rheem Manufacturing in Houston and 38 years in the wood working industry as inventory control clerk. He married Ruby Lee Jezek April 16, 1955. He spent his entire life in the East Bell County area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Divis of Temple, a sister, Vlasta Sims of Moody, children, Cheryl Marsh of Flagler Beach, Fla., Janice Divis Paine and Darryl Divis both of Temple, Kristina Northam-Bailey of Temple, Kevin Divis of Austin, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
