Bell County 911 Center to host open house, blood drive
Sunday, 05 August 2012 by Grayson Edds
The Bell County 911 Communication Center will be hosting a Scott and White Blood Drive in conjunction with an open house on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
The center has recently installed a new 9-1-1 telephone system and completed the west wing of their facility which will house their IT department and extended employee break area.
Hosting both a blood drive and an open house offers the community a chance to see the inside of the Communication Center, provides the center a chance for public education, and fulfills the ongoing needs for blood donation, said employee Aubrey Hussey.
All blood drive participants must be at least 17 years old, bring a picture ID and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors are also encouraged to eat a meal and drink plenty of fluid prior to donation.
For a full list of requirements, please visit www.sw.org.
In addition, Scott and White is offering July donors a free blood donor t-shirt; a free medium popcorn with the purchase of a movie, donated by Grand Avenue Theaters in Belton; the chance to win a $50 Visa gift card, donated by the National Bank of Central Texas; and the chance to win dinner for two, donated by Cheeve's Brothers Steakhouse.
The Bell County 911 Communication Center welcomes the community to tour the facility, save a life by donating blood, and take the chance to win a few prizes.
The center is located at 708 W. Avenue O.
