Blood drive success for S&W, 911 Center

The collaborative efforts of the Bell County 911 Communication Center and Scott & White turned out to be a success during their open house and blood drive on Friday.

Both parties were pleased with the turnouts and donations made.

Scott & White benefited from 17 donations from a mixture of employees and citizens, a good amount of donations for a single day, according to Scott & White.

The Communications Center was able to show off their improved facility by offering tours of their now-complete building. The renovations completed the west wing of their facility. The renovated wing now houses their IT department and extended employee break area.

Communication Center director Dalton Cross said the experience was positive, and the center looks forward to hosting another blood drive in the future.

"We are the best kept secret in Bell County," he said. "We thought it was right in line with our line of work. As 911 dispatch, we're the first people you call when there's been an accident or you need help. We're the first line of support, so it was fitting that we host a blood drive to support the community."

A unique benefit to donating blood at a Scott & White blood drive is that all the blood donated to Scott & White stays at Scott & White.

If you missed this opportunity to donate, Scott & White continues to host blood drives around the area throughout the summer. Their schedule is available at www.sw.org/blood-center/events.
