Robert E. Stone

Vietnam Veteran Retired 1st Sgt. Robert E. Stone has joined the ranks of God's Army now. He died Tuesday morning, July 24, peacefully at his home in Belton surrounded by his family.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Robert was born on April 12, 1936, to the late Dennis T. and Nancy Maud Dillard Stone at Minded, Louisiana. He joined the U.S. Army on Aug. 3, 1954, and served until being honorably discharged on Oct. 1, 1979.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Irmtraud G. Stone of Belton; three grandchildren, Jerri Bullock Hubbard and husband Don, Shawna Roman and husband Augustine, and Jason Stover; eight great-grandchildren, SPC Jared Acton, Amanda Jones, Kelsey Acton and Eric Townsend, Tiffy and Keith Willis, Boo Boo Roman, James Jones, Missy Roman, and Kiara Roman; three great-great-grandchildren, Jason Acton, Romeo Jones and Kimberlin Willis.
Pops, you will always be my hero; our family was restored, broken hearts healed and precious memories made because of you. You are the brightest star in the heavens and I know you will always be with us standing guard on eternal patrol. I love you. Rest in peace. I salute you and thank you for your service to our country and your unfailing love for all of us kids.
