Hunters Spectacular set for Oct. 13th
Thursday, 06 September 2012 by Keith Bahlmann
Mark your calendars and save the date for the upcoming Bell County 4-H Hunter's Spectacular on Sat., Oct. 13. The event will be held at the Bell County Expo Center and doors will open at 6 p.m.
Entry is only $5 per person for this fun-filled family event, which will offer a fajita dinner, silent auction, live auction, vendors and games. One of their biggest attractions are the drawing prizes, where 20 lucky winners will go home with a new firearm, and others will go home with binoculars, hunting equipment, archery equipment, taxidermy services, and then some.
The proceeds of the event will go toward the support of the program to offset the costs of many events, camps, livestock supplies, workshops, contests, and leadership activities.
The mission of Texas 4-H is to prepare youth to meet the challenges of childhood, adolescence and adulthood, through a coordinated, long-term, progressive series of educational experiences that enhance life skills and develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive competencies.
According to their website, there are more than 65,000 youth in Texas that are enrolled in 4-H clubs across Texas. Another 850,000 get involved through special opportunities at school, in after-school programs, or at neighborhood youth centers. The 4-H club isn't restricted to those who live in rural Texas, but also those who live in the city, suburbs, and in small towns. 4-H fosters the interests of the kids, from photography to computers, from building rockets to raising sheep.
