Altrusa plans A Taste of the Holidays luncheon

Kick start the Christmas Season with the 26th annual Taste of the Holidays luncheon and style show to be held on Nov. 15 at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic and Convention Center. The doors open at 11 a.m. and serving will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The theme is "A Tuscan Holiday". Since 1982, the Taste of the Holidays has been the primary fundraiser for Altrusa and through the years this event has raised more than a quarter of a million dollars, which is put back into the community through grants, scholarships and purchasing much needed supplies and equipment for non-profit organizations.

The Menu Committee, chaired by Debbie Fendrick, Sandi Wood and Beverly Luedke, has planned a delightful menu. Guests will be served tomato basil soup for appetizers. The main meal will be rolled/stuffed lasagna, roasted vegetables, romaine salad with antipasta and bread with dipping oils.

Early reservations will be available until Oct. 22 at $35 per ticket or a table for eight at $280. Tickets will be $40 a ticket or a table for eight at $320 from Oct. 23 until Nov. 5.

A raffle drawing for great prizes will be held during the event. The raffle tickets will be sold at $5 each or six for $25. They will be available for any Altrusa member or sold at the event.

Altrusa appreciates the tremendous support from Central Texans. Your participation and generosity makes grants and scholarships available to many disadvantaged individuals and groups in our community. Some of our recipients are high school and college students, Project Apple Tree, Camp Dreamcatcher, Camp Bluebonnet, Morning Star Ranch, Angler Education, Bell County Scholarships and Temple College Art Competition.
