The Lady Tigers out shot Killeen Ellison 23-6 with most of Killeen’s shot on goals coming late with Belton mixing up their lineup. Ellison playing a defensive game held on strong for most of the first half with the Lady Tigers on scoring until midway through the first half. In the end it was simply too much talent on Belton’s side and the Lady Tigers won their  34th straight district game and 62-1-4 since 2005.

Lauren Van Orden set up the first shot on goal early by turning a defensive stop into an offensive opportunity. Taylor Pressley did the same thing at 36:25. Jamie Boone set up a corner kick at 34:01.  Alex Burk had a stop at 31:12. Jamie Tish off a steal passed to Madi Coufal who set up Boone who’s shot was blocked at 29:44. August Kohutek had a shot on goal at 25:43.

Coufal had three steals near the 24 minute mark with Ellison struggling to get the ball past midfield.

Carina Dunnahoo set up the winning goal with a perfectly struck crossing pass that Hadley Young converted to make it 1-0 with 23:05 left. Pressley off a steal on defense set up Dunnahoo who’s shot was wide at 17:20. Kallie Lahey had a stop  at 15:59. Dunnahoo set up a corner kick at 11:56. Van Orden to Tish to Boone for another shot on goal at 9:59.

The Lady Tigers were moving the ball well but Ellison had five defenders near the goal and they stayed there. Taylor McMillan helped put the game away with a steal and a pass to Jourdan Brown near the goal. Brown hit the cross bar they converted on the rebound to put the game away at 2-0 near the end of the first half. Ellison had no shots on goal in the first half.

Pressley set up a corner kick and Young headed it in to start the second half with the Lady Tigers up 3-0.

Dunnahoo off a steal passed to Emily Krenek who scored to make it 4-0 with 24:52 left. Brown with a dazzling crossing pass to Young who converted to make it 5-0 with 21:40 left. Freshman Rebekah Robinson and sophomore Allison Herrington came and played defense. Herrington late in the game was moved to forward. Both players simply showed the depth of the Lady Tigers team.

Kelsi Darr made an outstanding diving save at 13:25. With Temple’s loss to A&M Consolidated it sets up next weeks match A&M for the district lead.

“Against A&M we won’t be able to do the long ball passes we were doing tonight. We are working on touch passing and moving the ball around. This team works good together but we need to work on our fitness because against the good teams in the playoffs it isn’t easy,” said Van Orden.
