New King's Daughters physician Dr. Ryan Fowler is hoping to bring a new perspective to athletes and weekend warriors in the Central Texas area.
Specializing in family medicine and primary care, Fowler is also a specialist in sports medicine.
A former member of the Navy, Fowler came to Texas in the hopes of bringing a new perspective to sports medicine to the area.
"I deal with all kinds of normal primary care issues from newborn to the elderly, but also during my time during the Navy I was able to get some extra training in primary sports medicine," Fowler said. "Which was beneficial with my relationship with the Navy and the Marine Corps and I'm hoping to make that a big part of my practice."
Fowler was in the Navy for nine years and is originally from West Viriginia.
"It was definitely one of my hopes coming to Texas because I new athletics are a huge part of life down here for everybody, especially young kids in school," Fowler said. "It's very rewarding to not only help the kids, but anybody that is looking to get back to what they like to do."
Being an avid athlete himself, Fowler said he was interested to work in area where he could make a difference.
"I'm really interested in local athletics. I love running and cycling and I deal a lot with concussions," Fowler said. "I like to think that I'm a progressive kind of person and want to bring a new slant to this area that it may not have. I'm big into concussion care and other big sports issues and I hope to bring a new perspective to the area."
Fowler can treat all primary care issues, sporting or exercise-related injuries and annual and sports physicals.
Along with this wife, Fowler's family also consists of three boys – a five-year old and a set of nine-month-old twins.
"I'm really looking forward to being an integral part of the community, because being in the Navy you move around so often that you never really get established anywhere," Fowler said. "That was kind of my emphasis getting out of the Navy was to become a part of the community and be able to give back in whatever ways that I can."
Fowler is currently accepting new patients and can be reached at (254) 554-8334. For more information about the King's Daughters Clinic in Killeen, visit www.kdclinic.com.
