Junior High Football

Pierce Drake and Elijah Joseph each scored a touchdown for South Belton Middle School's eight grad A team in a loss to Belton Middle School.

James Mendoza had an interception in the game.

Alex Hernandez scored on a 45-yard run for South Belton Middle School's seventh grade A team in a loss to Belton Middle School.

The seventh grade B team lost a tough game to BMS. Christian Mapp had a long reception.

Andrew Anchando had several long runs. Jermiah Salinas and Josh Meyers had a big night blocking.

On defense the Tigers were led by Jakelo Dickerson, Hank Wilson and Joel Hardin. Seth Eddy had an interception.

BMS 8th falls to Midway

The Belton Middle School football team hosted the Midway Panthers on Tuesday night. The eight grade B team lost a close one 22-16.

The Tigers received the opening kickoff and Jervontre Jones returned it 30 yds.

The Tigers moved the ball for two first downs before they were stopped on downs. The defense was unable to stop Midway on the first drive and after the first quarter it was 8-0.

The Tigers tried to move the ball with passing and running but were unable to gain a first down.

Defenders with big hits were Eric Ralph, Taylor Wren, and Joseph Hermann.

Devin Canales gave the Tigers a spark with a 20 yd run pushing the ball closer to the goal line.

A pass completion from Cameron Lamm to Tony Gallagher for another first down. Tough runs by Jones and Canales push the ball inside the five-yard line before Lamm punches it in for a TD.

Chris Abernathy converted the PAT to tie the game at 8-8 at the half.

Midway took a 16-8 lead.

The Tigers scored again on a 50-yd run by Tannor Yearwood and again Abernathy booted the ball through the up rights to close the score to 22-16.

Three minutes to go and down by 6 the Tigers kick off.

Dylan Tuma intercepted the ball at the Tiger 45 yd line. The Tigers fought hard but were unable to move the ball.

"We had some great effort from the kids, We had some big hits on defense, exactly what we have been talking about," said coach Bunch.

Defensive standouts were: Jorge Medrano, Eric Ralph, Justin Thomasson, and Tony Gallagher. The Tigers will play Cove next Tuesday at Wilson Kerzee Field.

The eight A team defeated Midway 32-26.

Ty Taggart hit Davion Peoples on a screen pass that was good for an 80 yd TD.

Kade Leblanc kicked for the 2 point conversion giving the Tigers an early 8-0 lead.

Midways scored on theirfirst possession but Hunter Garrett blocked the kick and the score was 8-6. Garrett

Peoples dashed to the endzone from 15 yds out. Leblanc again kicked for the extra points.

With a 16-12 lead Canaan Jones returned the kickoff 20 yds to the the Midway 45.

After a 5 yard pass to Phoenix Phillips, a 25 yard run by Garrett, the Tigers scored on a Michael Lara run from the 15 yards out. Leblanc makes the score 24-12.

With a 12 point lead, Hunter Garrett intercepted a Midway pass for the first turnover of the game. Midway scored twice to take a 26-24 to start the third quarter.

The Tigers had the ball to end the first half but went three and out and Midway got a score with just seconds remaining before half.

The Tigers bounced back and scored again from the one as Peoples followed a strong push from the offensive line.

Up front, Reagan Chapman, Zach Rumfield, Drew Thigpen, Jake Chastain, and Bailey Peacock came up big for us not only on that play but all night. Belton had 32-26 and with 3:00 on the clock our defense gets a stop. A fumbled on third down and gave Midway the ball with a short field.

They ended up scoring with 1:20 left on the clock. Belton moved the ball but were unable to score.

On offense, Davion Peoples ended the night 150 yds, Hunter Garrett 70 yds, Ty Taggart ended with 145 yds passing.

The Tigers face Cove at Wilson Kerzee Field on Tuesday.

BMS 7th downs SBMS

Belton Middle School seventh grade A team defeated South Belton 22-8. Eric Hubred recovered a fumble caused by Tannor Fisher Michael Vela scoredon a 75yard Interception return. Cameron Davis threw a 10yd TD pass to Holden Goldston. Grant Magana converted the two-point after attempt.

Tannor Fisher had a 60 yard TD run behind fine blocking by the offensive line. Magana is good on the two-point after attempt.

Defensive players of the game:  Tyler Vaughn and Caleb Smith

The seventh grade B team defeated South Belton 16-0. Jeffery Robinson sacked the SBMS QB for a safety to start off the scoring.

Jack Wenberg had a 12 yard TD run behind fine blocking and ran in the conversion attempt as well.

Shawn Akanji scored on a 40 yard speed sweep to ice the game for Belton Middle School.

William Paysse ran in the conversion attempt to round out the scoring.
