Former reporter Paul Romer was recently selected as the City of Belton's first Public Information Officer.

Responsibilities for the position include coordination and distribution of information on City programs, services and issues; management of the City's website, social media and other communication programs; and emergency management coordination during crisis or emergency situations.
Romer received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Brigham Young University in 2000. Previously, Romer was a bureau reporter/city editor for the Temple Daily Telegram from 2005-12.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with the media in this region of behalf of the City of Belton," Romer said. "In addition to building upon established media relationships, I'm confident the City is ready to begin using social media to keep residents informed. I'm excited to be a part of this success."
City Manager Sam Listi said he was excited for Romer to join the City of Belton staff team.
"The City of Belton is truly fortunate that someone of Paul's experience, integrity and professionalism has chosen to become a part of our organization," Listi said. "I believe he is the best person to develop the City's first public information program and I welcome him to our team."
Romer will begin his duties today for the City of Belton.
