UMHB’s Bailey, Jones, Maxie selected to play in Dream Bowl

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players LiDarral Bailey, Javicz Jones and Sam Maxie have been selected to play in the inaugural Dream Bowl All-Star Game in January. Bailey is the first UMHB player selected to compete in the game.
Bailey, a senior quarterback from Bremond High School, was voted D3football.com South Region Offensive Player of the Year and was a Second Team All-American this year. He broke every school single-season passing record, going 195-276 through the air for 2,642 yards and 30 touchdowns. Bailey threw just three interceptions and finished second in the country in pass efficiency. He also ran for 961 yards and 15 TD's in leading the Cru to a 13-1 record and a spot in the NCAA Division III National Semifinals. Bailey finished his career as UMHB's all-time leading passer and finished in the top three all-time in career rushing and rushing touchdowns. He posted a 34-4 career record as a starting quarterback with three of those four losses coming in the postseason.
Jones, a senior linebacker from Katy Morton Ranch High School, was voted D3football.com National Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-American honors from three different organizations this year. He led the Cru with 135 tackles and set a new school record with eight interceptions. Jones added 12.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, six pass break-ups, two blocked kicks and three forced fumbles. He also returned two interceptions and two blocked field goals for touchdowns. Jones was a two-time D3football.com South Region Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was a three-time ASC All-Conference selection. He also broke the UMHB and ASC career record for tackles and finished his career as the leading active tackler in NCAA Division III.
Maxie, a senior offensive tackle from Austin Bowie High School, was voted to the D3football.com All-America team. He was one of the highest-grading linemen for a Cru offense that averaged 48.9 points, 296.2 rushing yards and 523.2 yards of total offense per game this season. UMHB also allowed just 15 quarterback sacks in 342 passing attempts on the year.
The Inaugural Dream Bowl will be played January 21, 2013 at Salem Stadium in Roanoke, VA. The College Football All-Star Game is a showcase of the best NCAA D-III and NAIA players from across the country. The game and the series of events held over Martin Luther King Weekend are a celebration of the excellence, commitment, and sacrifice made by the players and their families.
