City hosts free family fishing event
Sunday, 06 January 2013 by Keith Bahlmann
The City of Belton is hosting a free family-friendly fishing event on Nolan Creek made possible through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Rainbow Trout Program.
On Jan. 3, Nolan Creek will be stocked with rainbow trout, giving new and experienced anglers a chance to bait a hook, cast a lure, or try their hand at fly fishing in hopes of catching a trout from a Texas stream.
Although the rest of the year a fishing license is required to fish Nolan Creek, Texas Parks and Wildlife is allowing an exemption for this event.
So no license is needed from noon to 2 p.m. at the event site only.
Join in the longest fish contest and see how your fish measures up. A prize will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place! Grab your poles and join us at Nolan Creek in historic downtown Belton, Thursday, Jan. 3 from noon to 2 p.m., for Family, Fishin', & Fun.
