Obituaries

Edith Mayes

Graveside services for Edith Mayes, 88, of Belton, were held at 1 p.m. Mon., Dec. 31, 2012, at Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mayes died Sat., Dec. 29, 2012, in a Temple Hospital.

Mrs. Mayes was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Oneaville, the daughter of John Hampton Starling and Ethel Vera (Ezzell) Starling. She married Andy E. Mayes July 5, 1940, in Temple. Mrs. Mayes was a lifetime resident of Central Texas. She was a member of Belton Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Mayes was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Billy James Townzen and Andy Calvin Mayes; two daughters, Marie Moore and Linda Fay Hicks Moore.

Survivors include a son, Richard Townzen of Morgan's Point Resort; a brother, John Halpton Starling Jr. of Morgan's Point Resort; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
