Donald E. “Van” VanSchoelandt

Memorial services for Donald E. "Van" VanSchoelandt, 78, of Belton will be held at 1 p.m. Fri., Jan. 18, at the First Christian Church in Belton.

Mr. VanSchoelandt died Sun., Jan. 13, at the Alzcare Nursing Center in Temple.

Mr. VanSchoelandt was born April 24, 1934, in Independence, Mo., the son of Henry and Alice (Hagan) VanSchoelandt. He married Marilyn Leat April 1, 1967, in Mission, Kan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also worked for the military for over 35 years and retired from Ft. Hood as the Housing Manager. He had many interests including playing bridge. He was an avid golfer. He won the State Championship in Bowling in North Carolina in 1956. Mr. VanSchoelant attended First Christian Church in Belton for over 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn VanSchoelandt of Belton; son, Wayne Klasinski of Kansas City, Kan.; and daughter, Jan Tucker of Belton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
