Lady Tigers tennis finishes strong at A&M
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 by Grayson Edds
The Tiger Tennis team played in the A&M Consolidated Tournament over the weekend. Coach Kyle Larson said the tournament was good, and the Tigers did well.
"It was a stout tournament," he said. "I think most of our players won their first round matches."
The tournament was a guaranteed two match tournament. The A girls doubles did well when Mayra Perez and Abigail Kendall won consolation by beating Copperas Cove in the semifinals and another Cove team in the finals. Larson said that Tara Donaho also played a good tournament, but lost to an opponent in the semifinals.
The girls weren't the only ones who brought some ferociousness to the courts.
"Both mixed doubles teams did well," Larson said. "Alex Cesani made it to consolation finals before losing to a player from A&M Consolidated."
Overall, he thought it was a good tournament, preparing them for district play later on. The team plays in the Ennis tournament next weekend.
