Boone leads Lady Tigers past Midway

Belton's domination of district play continued with a resounding 2-0 defeat of Midway on the road Tuesday night. Jamie Boone scored an unassisted goal in the first half and put the game of out reach early in the second period with her second goal of the night. Goal keeper Courtney Dippel got the shutout.

The Lady Tigers defeated Lake Travis 3-0 at the Georgetown soccer tournament. Belton outshot Lake Travis 9-2. Kat Parker scored the game winning goal at 28:59 in the first half. Jacey Love got the assist off a goal by Jamie Boone to make it 2-0 to start the second half.

Boone would score again at 25:31 to make it 3-0. The Lady Tigers lost to Austin Westlake 3-0. Westlake scored three goals off of six shots in the game. Belton lost to #1 ranked Plano West 2-0. Plano outshot Belton 9-2 in a game that was closer than the final score.

Plano West scored early in each half to take the win. Both Westlake and Plano are considers state championship caliber teams. Westlake only played three defenders back with five midfielders and two forwards. Plano West runs the same 3-1-2-4 alignment the Lady Tigers have switched to. "Getting to see Plano West gave the girls a chance to see what the top teams run in terms of alignments. It showed them why we switched. Kat Parker did a great job shutting down one of Plano's to players. Both Westlake and Plano attack wide and hit crosses over the middle. They have tall girls and use headers to try to score and create opportunities. Saturday gave us a chance to see how we matched up. It was a tremendous tournament," said Lady Tigers head coach Wendy Knight.
